As we are approaching the Paris Motor Show, first details of official debuts are starting to surface. Korean manufacturer Hyundai has now shown the first pictures of its new compact i20 hatchback, heading to Paris for its public debut on 2 October.
As the i20 was, and still is, such a success story in Europe, the new car has been designed and developed in Europe specifically for European customers.
According to Hyundai the i20 is now based on a new platform. The result is a wheelbase increase of 45 mm, now totalling 2 570 mm. This means a roomier cabin while the luggage compartment is now a claimed 326 litres. Hyundai also made special mention of its panoramic sunroof, which can tilt as well as open. To give the car a further modern tint, LED lights have been fitted both at the front and the rear of the car.
No official pictures have been released of the interior, although Hyundai did confirm that the car will feature a reverse camera.
Following the official unveil to the world’s media and public in October, expect the new i20 to arrive in South Africa by the first quarter of 2015.
