With over 270 000 units sold locally since 1980, it is fair to say the Volkswagen Jetta is a South African favourite.

Now Volkswagen has released the refreshed model. At first glance it might not seem as if the car has undergone significant upgrades. However, both the front and rear ends have been refreshed, while engineers have been able to reduce the Jetta’s aerodynamic drag by 10%.

The interior has also been improved. There are now clear signs of the Golf 7’s influence, with updates ranging from the instrument cluster, steering wheel, upholstery materials and certain accents.

The engine range is unchanged though. This means, the range is stil made up of three petrol engines (a 1,2 TSI 77 kW, a 1,4 TSI 90 kW and a 1,4 TSI 118 kW) and two turbodiesel derivatives (a 1,6 TDI 77 kW and a 2,0 TDI 103 kW).

The Jetta is offered in three different trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline and Highline.
