The updated Renault Fluence range has just received a range-topping CVT bringing the local offering up to three models.
The Renault Fluence Dynamique 2,0 CVT is powered by the same 2,0-litre, 16-valve petrol powerplant currently doing service in the manual models. This unit develops 103 kW at 6 000 r/min and 195 N.m of torque at 3 700 r/min and can propel the car from 0-100 km/h in 10,1 seconds on the way to a 195 km/h top speed.
In addition to serving up smoother gearshifts, Renault claims that the new CVT transmission helps the Fluence realise a three per cent improvement in fuel efficency over the manual model with an average fuel consumption of 7,7 litres/100 km.
As with the manual model, the CVT’s Dynamique specification brings with it a generous list of standard features. These include cruise control with speed limiter, LED daytime running lights, auto rain and light sensors, front and rear park distance control sensors, lumbar setting on both driver & front passenger seats. Equipped with a 18 cm touch screen with Tom-Tom navigation, radio/CD/MP3/USB/Bluetooth audio system and keyless entry and go.
The extensive roll of standard fitments also includes such safety features as ABS brakes with EBA and EBD, stability control (ESP), dual front/side/curtain airbags, rear Isofix child seat anchorage points and auto door locking on pull away.
