The Geneva Motor Show will probably be remembered for its sports and supercar unveilings. However, Honda made use of the occasion to unveil its latest, compact SUV, called the HR-V.
Based on the concept of a coupé-crossover, the five-seat SUV offers the company’s magic-seat system as well as a seven-inch touchscreen connected to the car’s infotainment system.
In the UK, the range will be launched with a 1,6-litre i-DTEC (88 kW) turbodiesel and a 1,5-litre i-VTEC (96 kW) petrol engine. These engines are connected to a six-speed manual gearbox, while the 1,5-litre unit will also be available with a CVT transmission.
Safety features on the HR-V include: Intelligent Speed Assist, City Brake Active Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition.
The exterior design clearly forms part of the current Honda family, with the nose of the car receiving a similar treatment to that of the current Honda Jazz and CR-V.
No word from Honda Motor Southern Africa regarding the possibility of introducing the range locally.
