Although the XL1, which first made an appearance nearly two years ago, was designed to be the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the world, this new XL Sport, which makes its international debut at this week’s Paris Motor Show has no such intention.
The XL Sport is powered by a high-revving cylinder engine that’s been borrowed from a Ducati 1199 Superleggera and which develops 147 kW and can spin up to 11 000 r/min.
Thanks to the XL Sport’s low mass of 890 kg due to the extensive use of carbon fibre reinforced plastic in its construction and its use of a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, it’s capable of a zero to 100 km/h spring in 5,7 seconds and top speed of 270 km/h.
Other high-tech elements used in the XL Sport’s build include ceramic brakes, an extremely low drag coefficient of 0,258, scissor doors and carbon fibre facia with a digital instrument panel.
