Mazda will reveal the next-generation of its evergreen MX-5 roadster at the Geneva International Motor Show next month.
The brand new two-seater, heavily disguised in the picture, will be unveiled at a VIP event on February 28 before its public début at a media conference on March 1. Details and full pictures will be made available at that time.
The MX-5 will be displayed along with several of its siblings, including a facelifted version of the popular Mazda6.
“While we’re excited to finally get the cover off the new MX-5, I think the entire line of Mazda’s new-generation Zoom-Zoom products deserves to be centre stage,” said one senior marketing and sales manager.
“It is particularly gratifying to showcase the upgraded Mazda6 in Europe, where it has been so successful. With the upgrade, we have improved the product in vital areas such as NVH, performance and overall visual appeal.”
The exterior design has been altered for an even stronger presence. Body rigidity has been improved for greater handling and stability. Engines have been modified and, combined with new transmissions, provide even stronger performance on the road. According to Mazda, the interior quality has also been significantly upgraded.
Mazda6 was the manufacturer’s first Zoom-Zoom product when it was launched in 2002, and has played a pivotal role in the company’s latest brand strategy. Production of the facelifted Mazda6 will commence towards the middle of 2005, with models expected in South Africa in 2006.
