Renault has released a single press picture, call it teaser if you will, of its upcoming new Twingo. The new car serves as a production showcase for the company's bold new design language, which was first encountered at the 2010 Paris Motor show in the form of DeZir concept and taken further with the Captur and Frendzy.
From the picture we can gather that the front end has received a significant change. It now incorporates two sets of fog lamps and features a bold Renault badge flanked by a strong horizontal grille strip and swept-back headlamps with lower contours that mirror the curves of the circular foglamps below them. While it’s difficult to ascertain exactly what Renault has done with the flanks and rear end of the new Twingo, the presence of some familiar design features suggests that only minor changes have been made there.
As Renault’s little one will only be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the French manufacturer has been stingy regarding specification levels and engine details.
Expect a couple of new engines to join those from the current range and possibly a bump-up in terms of standard specification.
Expect the new Twingo to arrive in South Africa by the first half of 2012.
CAR will be attending and reporting from the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Keep a look out for updates and video from the show in September
