Dutch sports car manufacturer Spyker has unveiled a 6,0-litre Audi W12-engined C12 Spyder. The model, which extends the quirky marque’s long-wheelbase range to three different models, will cost in the region of R2,3 million.
Dutch sports car manufacturer Spyker has unveiled a 6,0-litre Audi W12-engine C12 Spyder. The model, which extends the quirky marque’s long-wheelbase range to three different models, will cost in the region of R2,3 million.
Spyker chief executive and founder Victor Muller presented the company’s latest prototype – the C12 Spyder - at the Miljonair Fair in Amsterdam late last week.
The Audi W12 dry sump aluminium engine at the heart of the new car has a peak power output of 373 kW and a maximum torque figure of 600 N.m. It will be mated with either a manual six-speed or an automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted gear selection paddles.
Weighing in at less than a tonne and a half, the C12 Spyder is claimed to be capable of reaching 325 km/h and completing the zero to 100 km/h dash in less than four seconds.
Wheels are Spyker’s spectacular in-house designed 19-inch Aeroblade™ alloys. Further specifications include rear wheel drive with limited slip differential, ABS and an aluminium space frame with integrated roll cage.
Spyker’s long-wheelbase range now includes the eight cylinder C8 Double12 R (Le Mans race car) and C8 Double12 S (street version), and the C12. The total Spyker range is now up to 6 models. A driving impression of one of the Dutch company’s products is due to appear in the February issue of CAR.
“I am extremely proud to present this prototype as an extension of our range of super cars. Assuming customer demand meets our expectations, this car could go into production some time in the last half of 2006,” Muller was quoted as saying.
