VWSA has opened an R8-million technology support centre in Uitenhage that links the company and its franchised dealers to the technical operating divisions of VW and Audi in Germany.
VWSA managing director Andreas Tostmann this week said that almost all local Volkswagen and Audi dealerships had already been fitted with the infrastructure to enable them to link up with VWSA and, in turn, with Volkswagen and Audi head offices.
Tostmann said that apart from product support, the centre’s core function was to control all vehicle repairs, from diagnosis to final repair and that the facility also assisted with practical and problem-orientated on-the-job training for VWSA’s dealer technical service personnel.
quoted him as saying that the link with Volkswagen and Audi’s technical operating divisions would “minimise the time customer vehicles were required to be in dealer workshops”.
Tostmann said complete customer satisfaction for South African Audi and Volkswagen owners would not be possible unless the “technological sophistication in the product was matched by the levels of dealers’ after-sales service”.
It was VWSA’s objective that its brands would become the benchmark for customer satisfaction in South Africa, he added.
“This centre, and the investment made by our dealers, represent an investment of about R8 million. This illustrates how serious we are” about customer satisfaction, he said.
