Images purported to be of the new Audi A3 have emerged onto the Web ahead of the car’s Geneva Motor Show debut.
Having already spilled the beans regarding its hot RS4 Avant model, it now appears that Audi may have released an image of the next iteration of its top-selling A3 model ahead of its official Geneva debut.
The image, if it is an official one, was leaked on Czech Republic website AutoForum.cz and shows a sharper, slightly more elongated take on the current car with such signature touches as the single-frame grille, trio of character lines on the flanks and LED-trimmed headlamps.
While the exterior still remains subject to conjecture, we have had a good peek at the new car’s interior. This A1-inspired space is built around the MMI infotainment system, which has received such updates as a inch-inch pop-up screen, touchpad, Twitter and Facebook access and a GPS system that makes use of Google Earth.
The engine line-up will reportedly include 1,2-, 1,4-, 1,8- and 2,0-litre turbocharged petrol units with outputs ranging from 80 kW to 155 kW – and 1,6- and 2,0-litre turbodiesel units. There are also apparently hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions in the pipeline.
The new A3 will make its first official appearance at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show and will go on sale in Europe towards the middle of 2012.
