The all-new Maserati Quattroporte saloon has been unveiled. This sixth-generation Italian luxury car will make its official debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
Maserati has kept the front grille, three side vents and the triangular C-pillar that defined the outgoing model, but have added a strong belt line, blacked-out pillars to give the impression of frameless door windows and three windows on each side to make this new model more distinguished.
For the cabin, Maserati claims “the design of the Quattroporte aims at essentiality, stressing the simplicity of lines and the full functionality of the on-board instrumentation. Functional elements are blended with soft quality surfaces made of prestigious woods and refined leathers.”
Under the bonnet lies a Ferrari-sourced V8 engine that is believed to be an updated version of the 338 kW 4,7-litre unit. This engine will be mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and will see a reduction in CO2 levels and fuel consumption.
Maserati engineers have worked on weight reduction and have also extended the length of the Quattroporte so that it sits at an estimated 5 200 mm. According to the company, “Maserati engineers have worked in chassis designing and engineering, weight reduction and ergonomic enhancement to develop a car capable of fitting different powertrain architectures and transmission configurations.”
The Quattroporte will be here in June.
