The current Nissan Pathfinder has been around for a few years now and in its lifetime has gone under the knife for a refresh or two, but has never seen any drastic change. Until now. Nissan has taken to its Facebook page and revealed its all-new Pathfinder.
Keeping the styling that was first seen on the concept car in January at the Detroit Motor Show, the new Pathfinder features a large front bumper, narrow A- and D-pillars, a large front grille flanked by what Nissan describes as “aerodynamic headlamps”, chrome accents and door handles, and a rear spoiler.
This new Pathfinder will make use of a unibody platform and independent suspension setup. We suspect that the Patfinder will be underpinned by a modified version of Nissan’s FF-L (front-engine, front-wheel drive, large) platform. This will see the Pathfinder sacrificing some of its off-road capabilities to make way for a more car-like feel.
There’s no word on what the engine line-up will look like, but reports suggest that Nissan will fit its VQ V6 3,5-litre with drive sent to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT) in front-wheel-drive versions. Four-wheel-drive versions are also expected to be available.
No word yet on local availability, but we suspect that it will be sometime in 2013.
