Innovation is key in the Nissan Actic concept car, which includes an advanced information system for maximum personalisation and even a matching trailer!
This car, with its sleek, bullet-shaped body and bright orange interior, uses handheld “key fob” technology to allow the user to update and expand the car’s interface with MP3 players and GPS systems.
Other Actic innovations include dual sliding side doors, a wheel and tyre design with tread-wrapped 20-inch aluminium-alloy wheels, and a trailer with inflatable walls that converts to sleeping space for three people.
The Actic’s bold and athletic proportions are characterised by a long wheelbase and extremely wide body. And with no B-pillar, the Actic’s wide doors provide easy access. The front doors move forward and the rear doors move backwards once the “smart” door handles sense a pass of the hand and present themselves for operation.
The Actic’s interior usage is ultimately influenced by the needs and personality of its owner. “Actic does not fully come to life until the intelligent key fob is activated,” said a Nissan spokesperson. “The fob is really a small, highly portable transmitting hard drive onto which the owner has loaded a host of data, preferences, settings and configurations.”
Visual information is displayed throughout the interior, whether on the driver-oriented instrumentation panels or on the six overhead flat panel displays. The sky theatre glass panelled roof design allows Actic users to play with the relationship between exterior and interior environments with custom video displays to, for example, change night to day.
The seats can be arranged into multiple configurations. All seats except the driver’s can be staggered to accommodate passengers and loads of different sizes.
Developed in conjunction with Michelin, the tyre tread is physically laminated over the 19-inch aluminum-alloy rims, making the tyres part of the wheel. The tyres also feature run-flat construction.
