Mazda’s new “6” executive saloon will make its debut at next month’s Moscow International Motor Show before international market details are revealed at the Paris Motor Show in September. Mazda has confirmed that the new “6” will go on sale in SA during the first half of 2013.
The car on display in Moscow will feature a SkyActiv 2,0-litre petrol engine mated with a SkyActiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle will also feature i-ELOOP, claimed to be world’s first capacitor-based regenerative braking system and which is said to improve fuel economy by up to 10 per cent in real-world driving conditions that involves frequent acceleration and braking. More drivetrain details will become available at the car’s Paris launch.
The new Mazda6 will be the second Mazda (after the CX-5) to feature a full suite of SkyActiv technologies, the brand’s, “proprietary engineering focus on developing fuel-efficient, performance-oriented vehicles as a result of lightweight and redesigned engine, transmission, chassis and body structures.”
