Those who’ve driven the Opel Astra OPC will know just how formidable the 206 kW turbocharged hot hatch is, but exactly how much do you know? That’s where the OPC Power App, an ECU-linked information system, comes into play.
The OPC Power App set-up comprises an ECU adaptor that forms a wireless connection between the car and your OPC Power App-equipped iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
This system takes readings from as many as 60 data channels and, by pairing your phone with it, can display and record such real-time telemetry information as:
- G-forces
- Vehicle speed
- Engine revs
- Electrical system statuses
- Vehicle settings such as auto-lights settings
- Boost pressure
The system also integrates a location map, track timer and visual representations of the OPC’s oversteer and understeer characteristics – useful information for track driving.
The OPC Power App set-up (control unit and wiring harness) is available via the local Opel dealership network and costs R6 052. The OPC Power App is a free download via the Apple App store.
