Audi’s niche-busting A7 Sportback is almost ready for launch. But besides seductive good looks, there is another reason why we’re excited – there could be a hardcore RS7 model…
Expected to debut at the Paris Motor Show later this year, the A7 slots into the Audi line-up above the A6, very much like the A5 Sportback does one step higher up from the A4. It will battle the likes of Mercedes’ CLS (itself due for replacement soon) and the recently revealed BMW 5 Series Gran Coupe.
The engine line-up is rumoured to mostly consist of V6 petrols and diesels in varying states of tune, but a report on Autocar suggests there will be a RS7 model powered by the marque’s fearsome Lamborghini-sourced V10 engine. It is said that this engine will develop 433 kW and drive all four wheels via a 7-speed double-clutch transmission.
