Last year Geely’s GE limousine was the subject of much debate with regard to its exterior similarity to the Rolls-Royce Phantom. But now, not even a year after the debut of the original concept; the GE has undergone an extensive restyling exercise that will be displayed at next week’s Beijing Motor Show.
The updated GE features more rounded edges and features in place of the other styling bits nicked off the Rolls-Royce flagship. The previous headlamps, foglamps and grille closely resembled that of the Phantom. Even the Spirit of Ecstasy was copied, even thought the Geely’s figuring is slanted backward.
Apparently, after the threat of a lawsuit from Rolls-Royce, the Chinese manufacturer has spent the past year re-thinking the error of its tracing paper ways and has come up with its own design language.
Even the interior has had the once-over, including the implementation of two rear seats instead of the single “throne” rear seat in the prototype GE, as well as a revised layout of features, panels and storage compartments.
