Recent reports suggest that the international debut of the all-new Mini Cooper has been moved back by a few weeks. The initial unveil was scheduled to take place at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but will now reportedly take place at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
Autoevolution has reported that the decision to push back the Mini’s debut was made because BMW wants to concentrate on the launch of its i3 electric car, set to have an online reveal on 29 July. Also, the Bavarian company wants the Frankfurt Show to be all about the BMW i sub-brand.
As previously stated, the all-new Mini Cooper gets a more angled bonnet and windscreen, while the headlights are now less pronounced than before. We expect the Mini to adopt circular daytime running lights situated around the headlights, as well as be a little bigger in size. The engine line-up is not yet known, but it’s safe to assume that an updated version of the 1,6-litre four-cylinder engine, in both naturally-aspirated and turbocharged format is on the cards. A 1,5-litre, three-cylinder engine, is also in the works and could join the range at a later stage.
The new Mini will reach local showrooms sometime in the first half of 2014.
