Red Bull Racing have done some pretty exciting stuff as promotional content in the past including former F1 driver David Coulthard parading through Cape Town in the sonorous RB7. Now is the turn of Sergio Pérez in the epic Race to Miami which has the Mexican driver choreographed in some spectacular driving stunts.
If you have 11 minutes and 11 seconds to spare today, this may be the content you want to watch. The production which not only includes Sergio Pérez and Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner but other Red Bull affiliated athletes like professional wakeboarder Parks Bonifay, tennis player Reilly Opelka, American football cornerback Byron Jones and skateboarders Zion Wright and Jamie Foy.
Of course, the Race to Miami wouldn’t have been possible without the Oracle Red Bull Racing Pit Crew who help the Mexican driver along each step of the East Coast road trip. Using the same V8 powered, Adrian Newey designed Red Bull RB7 that Coulthard used in our Mother City a few years ago, Pérez is heard occasionally feathering the throttle of the motor to its 18,000 rpm redline while kicking the back end out in some hair raising occasions on city streets.
The premise is simple, Pérez and Horner mistakenly take part in a game of broken telephone which has the RBR driver mishearing his team principal and rushing from New York City to Miami within a day. Of course, some subtle energy drink sponsorship placement features for the team’s parent company.
We also get to see some recent development in the inaugural Miami Grand Prix which will take place on Sunday the 8th of May at the Miami International Autodrome in the Florida City. Organisers state that the development of the circuit is about 95% complete at the moment so everything is on track, excuse the pun.
