Renault’s chic mini MPV, the Modus, has been on the South Africa market for almost a year, and the Regié recently released a limited-edition high-specification 1,4-litre model dubbed the Moi.
Renault SA claims to have achieved much success with limited-edition models (such as the Va va voom and Shake it! products) in recent years and the Moi derivative is based on the 1,4 Expression, but it can be differentiated from its sibling by its colour-coded bumpers and 10-spoke design 15-inch alloy wheels.
The Moi will be offered in a choice of five exterior colours – Flamme Red, Café Gris (brown), black, silver and white, and the interior is trimmed in swathes of grey leather trim “with classy perforations and soft stitching”, the manufacturer claims.
To emphasise the new model’s limited-edition status, a funky “Moi” logo is embroidered on the MPV’s front interior door panels.
Due to arrive in Renault showrooms around the country this month, the Moi costs R129 000, which includes a three-year unlimited distance warranty and a six-year anti-corrosion guarantee. Service intervals are every 15 000 kilometres.
The Modus range now comprises the 1,4 Expression (R125 000), the Moi and the 1,4 Dynamique (R137 000). The 1,2-litre Authentique, which was previously the entry-level model, is no longer available on the South African market.
