Renault has offered a glimpse of the Scénic XMOD, a more rugged take on its popular MPV, ahead of its official unveiling at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
The Renault Scénic XMOD features a number of crossover/SUV styling cues such as chunky plastic cladding for the lower bodywork and wheel arches, raised ground clearance and chrome-effect roof rails.
Leather/alcantara combination upholstery, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and aluminium pedal boots are among the optional interior appointments. According to Renault, this model offers 555 dm3 of luggage space and an additional 71 dm3 of storage space within the cabin.
The XMOD will also be the first Renault model to feature an Extended Grip system. This module offers improved traction in sand, snow, mud and other difficult driving conditions. It’s augmented by a drivetrain control system with road and loose ground presets for the braking and torque control characteristics. A rotary switch on the centre console operates the module.
Renault will offer the XMOD with a choice of three as yet undisclosed engine options.
In addition to the drivetrain management technologies, the XMOD will also feature Renault’s R-Link touchscreen infotainment system capable of operating a number of downloadable media apps.
The Renault Scénic XMOD will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show on 5 Marchand will be joined by an updated Grand Scénic seven-seater. Renault will also show off its Captur compact crossover in Geneva.
A spokesperson for Renault SA says that this model has not been confirmed for local consumption but market viability studies are being conducted.
