The car will probably be a rear-wheel drive and sold under the Renaultsport brand. The new car could be a dramatic new take on the Clio V6, whose low-volume platform would be very suited to the proposed hard-core sports car.
But Renault could also opt for a revised version of the highly-acclaimed Nissan front mid-engine platform used for the 350Z.
Good news from France, though, is that Renault F1 team president Patrick Faure has said that the new addition to the Renault family would appear ‘soon’ and would not be highly priced.
Meanwhile, Renault said it aims to win the F1 constructor’s title by 2005. It has been suggested that if it wasn’t successful by then, the French manufacturer would withdraw from F1.
