We are living in a rapidly fast changing world. The latest research study vehicle shown by Mercedes-Benz at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, is a testament of this. According to Mercedes-Benz, the amount of mega-cities (cities with a population of more than 10 million) will jump from 30 to 40 by 2030.
Chairman of Daimler AG, Dr Dieter Zetsche hit the nail on the head at the event when he said that “the single most important luxury goods of the 21st century are private space and time”. This is where the F 015 Luxury in Motion fits in. Mercedes-Benz doesn’t want the car to be a mode of transportation, but a “private retreating space”.
One of the highlights of the car is the variable seating system. These lounge chairs can swivel to offer face-to-face conversation, while they also swing 30 degrees outwards when the doors are opened. Passengers can choose to communicate, work or relax aboard.
With six screens fitted to the interior, the car is transformed into a digital arena. This means the connection between passengers, the car and the outside world can be done by gesturing, eye-tracking or touching of the screen.
