Rolls-Royce has confirmed that its Ghost-based Wraith will adopt a fastback body style.
According to Giles Taylor, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Design Director, the key elements of the Wraith’s profile can be broken down into three distinct lines; a roofline that slopes all the way to the tail, a side window graphic spanning the coach door and a strong shoulder line.
The Wraith, which will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in early March, has been described as the company’s most powerful and dynamically engaging model to date. This means that power will most likely be provided by a BMW-sourced 6,6-litre twin-turbo V12 developing around 440 kW.
To the dynamic end, the Wraith is likely to undergo some weight-saving measures to undercut the near-2,3 ton saloon upon which it is based, while a stiffer suspension set-up will help give the car an extra turn of agility.
Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos had the following to say about the Wraith:
“Rolls-Royce Wraith will draw superlatives when it is unveiled in Geneva…Expect the boldest design, the most dramatic performance and the most powerful Rolls-Royce that has ever played host to the famous Spirit of Ecstasy figurine. We will present a model whose starting point is luxury, refinement and exclusivity, traits that have made Rolls-Royce the world’s pinnacle luxury good for the last 108 years. This is a car not only defined by a timeless elegance, but one that encapsulates a sense of power, style and drama.”
