South Africa will be hosting the 22nd World Road Congress next month, which focuses on road development throughout the world.
South Africa will be hosting the 22nd World Road Congress next month, which focuses on road development throughout the world.
According to , the Congress will be held from October 19-25 in Durban.
“The Congress is the first of its kind to be held in Africa and over 100 countries will be represented there,” said transport minister Dullah Omar
“It’s very important, because we’ll be able to mobilise international forces and international opinion in support of road development in developing countries,’ he said.
Four types of sessions will be offered at the Congress, which includes a ministerial session and strategic development session.
The World Road Association is a non-profit organisation of which South Africa is a member. It serves as a international forum for analysis and discussion of transport issues and its Technical Committees will also prepare sessions for the summit.
