The Sandton dealership is under the new ownership of Absolut Motor Saab, a company established by a consortium of former Saab SA employees.
stated that Absolut Motor Saab is believed to have secured access to parts and some vehicle stock from Saab Sweden. The vehicle stock of Absolut Motor Holdings, the previous importers and distributors, was also apparently available to it.
A Delta Motor Corporation spokesperson has confirmed that negotiations are still underway between Saab Automobile in Sweden and Delta on the future distribution of Saab products in South Africa.
Sweden’s Saab is a General Motors (GM) company and GM also has a 49 per cent stake in the Port Elizabeth-based Delta Motor Corporation.
