According to the , the ad, first flighted in 1991, was the favourite ad of the past 20 years. The research was done by Millward Brown.
The ad showed a little boy playing with a toy Ferrari. He fills it with Sasol Super 100, with a ‘glug-glug’ as he pours the fuel into the car. The little Ferrari flies across the room, leaving burn marks on the carpet and crashing through the wall. The little boy is left staring wide-eyed at the hole in the wall.
According to Millward Brown, the ad scored 9,2 out of 10 points during the three years it was flighted. The little boy in the ad, Istvan Györi, now a 17-year-old at a school in Pretoria, was also voted the advertising industry’s personality of the year in 1991.
