Founded in 1950, the petrochemicals and synthetic fuels group, Sasol is the fifth-largest company on the JSE Securities Exchange SA, and it has a market capitalisation of about R72 billion.
Business Day reports that the group recorded a turnover of R61billion for the year to June last year, an increase of almost 50 per cent on the previous year. Sasol listed on the New York Stock Exchange this April, and it is also one of South Africa’s largest industrial investors with capital investments exceeding R13 billion annually.
The companies were chosen in categories that included tourism and leisure, empowerment, export, new product and innovation.
The Top Five National Companies awards have been presented to Protea Hotels & Inns, Arivia.kom, Aerosud, Vibol Marketing International and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.
The Top Five Emerging Companies chosen under the similar categories were Mankwe Safaris, Yenza Manufacturing, Nimue, Flux Interactive and S&N Rubber.
