Ferrari’s all-new Scaglietti 612 was recently photographed undisguised during a test session at a European test circuit.
After CARtoday.com featured the new Ferrari Scaglietti with studio shots last week, we now have shots taken of the 456 GT’s successor in test mode.
Many of our readers commented that the sketches were bland, unconvincing and ‘a bad artist’s impression’ of the car. After having another look, does that viewpoint still hold true?
Ferrari will manufacture the 12-cylinder model, with both the space-frame chassis and aluminium body panels built in-house at Modena, at the dedicated Scaglietti technologies facility. This construction method includes a 60 per cent increase in structural rigidity and significant weight savings of 60 kg compared with the current 456M GTA – despite the new car’s larger dimensions.
The 612’s 5,7-litre, 12-cylinder, 48-valve engine generates a maximum output of 403 kW at 7 250 r/min, with 588 N.m of torque at 5 250 r/min. It’s claimed that the Scaglietti 612 can go from 0 – 100 km/h in 4,2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 315 km/h.
Right-hand-drive versions of the car are scheduled for release in mid-2004 and prices will be announced later, according to .
