If the Australians get their way, they could soon be driving an officially tuned version of the Volvo S60.
Called the S60 Performance Project, Volvo Car Australia took the S60 T6 R Design as the base model and got some help from two partners: Polestar and Heico.
Polestar – best known for the tuning work it did on a C30 hatch – helped with the engine management. The upgrade increases power by 18 kW to 242 kW and torque by 40 N.m to 480 N.m.
Heico supplied the 19-inch wheels and fettled the exhaust system to give it a more pronounced sound.
Apart from sitting 15 mm closer to the ground, as all R Models do, the Performance Project also features sports suspension, which includes 15 per cent stiffer springs. The cabin offer sports seats, a leather-covered steering wheel, dials with blue surrounds and bright aluminium pedals.
If customer demand is sufficient, Volvo Car Australia might offer this model in limited numbers.
