Owners will not have to pay for servicing or repair costs resulting from normal wear and tear during the maintenance period.
Subaru executive director Teresita van Gaalen said the packages, known as the Subaru All-Wheel Drive Plan and Subaru Assist respectively, will not result in any increase in the prices of the vehicles. She said they complemented the factory warranty of three-years/100 000km.
Van Gaalen says the launch of the Subaru All-Wheel Drive Plan is in response to the improved rand exchange rate. “We have avoided the route of dropping prices or increasing discounts in consideration of our existing customers as this would affect their investment in our brand. The plan covers the full range of Imprezas, Foresters, Legacys and Outbacks.
“The three years or 63 000km of motoring free of maintenance costs and Subaru Assist Plan combined differ significantly from competitor offerings in the level of inclusive, paid for benefits under the agreement.
“The Subaru Assist includes roadside assistance, tow-in, safe storage, hotel accommodation or a rental car, and courtesy transport, to medical assistance covering emergency response, patient transfer and guaranteed hospital admission, among others,” she said.
The Subaru All-Wheel Drive Plan incorporates all routine servicing. Maintenance and repairs, required through normal wear and tear or mechanical breakdown such as brakes, clutches, exhausts, batteries and shock absorbers are covered. The plan does not cover fuel or tyres.
