Subaru has announced the temporary closure of its Cape Town dealership as part of a countrywide dealer expansion programme.

This development forms part of the manufacturer's dealership upgrade – a programme that has been under way nationwide over the past year – in the Western Cape region. However, an interim service centre has been established to handle existing owners’ needs during this time.

"The move is driven by market forces, including customer demands for a benchmark dealership, to provide the highest levels of service," Subaru SA's managing director Teresita van Gaalen said. "It is our intention to meet these requirements through the implementation of a development plan for Subaru in this region and the deployment of fresh resources.

"The service centre will handle all servicing, warranties and maintenance plans during this process of change," van Gaalen said.

Van Gaalen added that while a hotline (0800 124 799) has been activated to provide assistance, owners would be contacted individually and informed of the process.

Mike's Motor Shop, on the corner of Duminy and Mathee streets in Parow, will serve as the interim service centre. Tony Struwig of Mike's Motor Shop can be contacted at 083 261 7348.
