Audi will debut their new design direction at next Month’s LA Auto Show. And the car embedded with this new DNA will be the Audi A9 concept.
It’s the work of Audi’s new design chief Marc Lichte who was given the reigns at the end of last year and the first example of his vision will be this big four-door coupe likely to be badged an A9 when it goes into production in 2016.
The A9 will be based on the same flexible MLB Evo platform that underpins the new A8 and, according to Lichte, the focus has been on sportiness, something that will characterize most of Audi’s future lineup.
This official teaser image shows what appears to be a shooting brake-style rear instead of the A5 and A7 Sportback’s liftback design, and Lichte has also said that Audi’s signature single frame grille will remain but with a look that’s much sportier.
