Aerodynamic tweaking has resulted in a more streamlined model with a lower integrated spoiler at the front and a less pronounced one at the rear. The car is now also positioned a further 10mm closer to the ground and is fitted with lethal 19-inch wheels and tyres specially selected to lower the GranSport’s centre of gravity.
The Maserati GranSport’s normally aspirated 4,2-litre V8 has the technology of the most sophisticated racing engines. Maximum power delivery has been increased to 298kW (up from 291kW).
The engine has been combined with a sports exhaust system with twin chrome pipes to give enthusiasts that recognisable rumble. And if that is not enough, even the “rumble” can be upped by the touch of a button on the central console.
Available only with the six-speed electro-hydraulic transmission with paddle shifts, the driving system allows drivers to choose between various gear-changing modes.
With the new Cambiocorsa software, the Maserati GranSport can sprint a whole kilometre from standstill in 23 seconds and can reach a top speed of 290 km/h.
As with all Maserati Grand Tourers, the GranSport offers a host of technological and safety features. It has a rear-mounted gearbox in unit with the differential, stability and traction control (MSP) integrating ABS, EBD and various other functions which can be deactivated at any time.
There is independent front and rear suspension with double wishbone geometry, which can be integrated with the Skyhook system which adapts the damper calibrations to suit the driving and road conditions and allows the driver to choose between two different settings (Normal and Sport).
The cars performance is further enhance by the addition of large ventilated cross-drilled Brembo brakes while the interior is a functional yet sumptuous fusion of leather, carbon fibre and alloy.
