Citroën’s range of C4 saloons and coupés set a style statement when they were launched earlier this year. Although the 1,6-litre (in petrol and diesel variants) was offered in the five-door version from the start, the three-door bodyshell was previously reserved for the 2,0 VTS.
Now, with trend-setting comfort and safety features, the 1,6 Coupé has arrived…
Featuring double overhead camshafts with four valves per cylinder, the 1,6-litre powerplant produces 85 kW at 5 800 r/min and peak torque of 147 N.m at 4 000 r/min. Ninety per cent of its torque (132 N.m) is available from 2 000 r/min.
The engine is mated with a five-speed manual gearbox. Claimed fuel consumption is 7,1 litres per 100 km.
The 1,6 Coupé comes equipped with all the safety and comfort features listed on the existing C4 range including the anatomically-shaped driver airbag.
As with other petrol-engined Citroëns, service intervals are 20 000 km. The car costs R154 995 and comes with a two-year/60 000 km service plan and a three-year warranty.
