Toyota South Africa has featured prominently in the annual Professional Management Review Corporate Care Awards, previously known as the emPower Awards.
The company was the 2003 automotive industry winner in the categories for environmental care, Black Economic Empowerment and Job Creation and Training.
It was also mentioned in the Review’s Roll of Honour for its contribution to Primary Healthcare and Social Upliftment. It received mention in the War against Criminals category as well since Crime Buster, supported by Toyota and specialising in self-defence workshops for women and children around the country, walked away with the top honours in the category for the fourth year running.
Toyota supports the Crime Buster programme by providing a Condor and Tazz to enable it to reach places that would otherwise be hard to access.
Toyota SA also won the overall African Renaissance Award as the “most caring company of all” in 1999. This award is determined by a company’s performance in the total spectrum of categories evaluated in the PMR corporate care competition.
