Toyota South Africa Motors has launched its FJ Cruiser, the latest addition to its extended local 4×4 range. Equipped with a 4,0-litre V6 petrol engine (200 kW/380 N.m), the FJ is available only with a five-speed automatic gearbox. To give it proper 4×4 capability, the transfer box can offer drive to all four wheels while low-range can also be selected.
Ground clearance is an impressive 245 mm, while the approach angle is 34 degrees and the departure angle is 30 degrees. Wading depth is said to be 700 mm.
In terms of design, Toyota has gone down the retro route, and there is several design cues taken from the first generations of Land Cruiser.
