With 40 points up for grabs at Phakisa Freeway in the Free State this weekend, three riders are in contention to seize top honours in this year’s 2003 South African Superbike Championship.
Defending champion, Russell Wood leads the points standing with 201 points and is closely followed by rivals Hudson Kennaugh and Shaun Whyte with 185 and 182 points respectively.
But there are some drivers who are planning to upset the plans of the front-runners, most notably, Yamaha’s Arushen Naidoo who has been very competitive all season.
Also hot on their heels are the former multiple champion, Greg Dreyer and Alex Lenearts with the Suzuki’s of Trevor Crookes, Stewart MacLeod and Noel Haarhoff well suited to the circuits fast sweeps.
