The Opel TRIXX small car concept to be shown at the Geneva Motor Show next month highlights the company’s future design and style objectives.
For economy and performance in the ultra-compact city car Opel has selected the all-new 1.3 CDTi common rail diesel engine. Three metres long, 1,65 metres wide and 1,54 metre tall, the front-wheel drive TRIXX should be great for city driving.
The highly versatile car can carry up to three adults and a child, and as a one-seater it turns into a substantial load carrier.
One of several ingenious ideas is that the front passenger seat can be folded away. If the front passenger wants a more comfortable ride, he/she can travel on the rear seat after folding the front seat away.
And because the rear seat is inflatable, it can be concealed or re-inflated in a few seconds. A child’s seat folds down behind the driver’s seat.
Three electrically powered doors, two on the passenger’s side and one on the driver’s side, allow easy access and loading while carrying goods. A rack at the rear pulls out like a drawer and a roof hatch can be activated at the push of a button to carry extra-long items.
Opel executive director of design, Martin Smith, said: “TRIXX shows our vision of an innovative, ultra-compact with an exciting design and a variety of mobility requirements with its highly versatile interior concept.”
