The Audi TT clubsport quattro was first seen in concept form at the Wörthersee Tour, the tuner show that attracts thousands of Audi and VW enthusiasts to southern Austria every year. At this year’s show, the Inglostadt-based company unveiled the production version of the TT Clubsport quattro to an audience in the region of 200 000.
What immediately sets the Clubsport quattro apart from lesser TTs is the “wraparound” look created by the low windshield and almost non-existent A-pillars, high-rise rollover bars, new headlamps with LED daytime running lights, and wide fender flares.
The front of the TT Clubsport quattro features the familiar single-frame grille, while a low spoiler lip and enlarged air intakes have also been fitted for a decidedly aggressive frontal assault. The lower half of the rear bumper is designed as a diffuser and houses two large tailpipes.
Audi’s engineers have borrowed the same 2,0-litre TFSI powerplant from the S3 and fettled with the turbocharged four-cylinder to bump its power to excess of 220 kW. The engine is mated to a dual-clutch S-Tronic transmission that sends the power to all four corners via quattro all-wheel drive. The Clubsport quattro also features a 66 millimeter wider track and TTS-sourced brake system, with 340 mm ventilated discs up front and 310 mm units in the rear.
The interior boasts plenty of aluminium and sports bucket seats, while the flat-bottomed steering wheel has been sourced from a regular TT. To emphasize the focus on saving weight, the TT Clubsport quattro has door handles and openers made from hollowed aluminium as well.
Official production details haven’t been specified, but according to Bernd Rosenbichler, Audi Marketing Director for the Middle East has confirmed a limited production run for the lands of sheikhs and oil-Barons for financial and climatic reasons.
