Alfa Romeo has now added its TCT (Twin Clutch Transmission) to the Mito 1,4 MultiAir in Distinctive trim, bringing the local range up to four models.
The six-speed dual dry-clutch transmission features full-automatic and manual sequential gearshift functionality to lend the car a blend of everyday usability and entertainment and is teamed with a standard fitment start/stop system to keep fuel economy and CO2 emissions in check. The TCT is augmented by Alfa’s DNA drive select module and vehicle stability control system.
This model’s 1,4-litre MultiAir engine develops 100 kW at 5 000 r/min and 230 N.m of torque at 1 750 r/min. According to Alfa Romeo, the TCT model dispatches the 0-100 km/h sprint in 8,2 seconds, shaving 0,2 seconds of the manual car’s time, and has a top speed of 207 km/h. The TCT-equipped Mito is also reportedly less thirsty and polluting than its manual sibling, with a fuel consumption figure of 7,1 L/100 km (7,4 L/100 km for the manual) and 126 g/km of CO2 (3 g/km less than the manual).
The TCT’s Distinctive trim specification includes such features as cruise control, electrically adjustable mirrors, follow-me-home lights, front foglamps, LED brakelamps, 17-inch alloy wheels and Alfa’s Blue&Me Bluetooth phone and audio integration system. Safety features include seven airbags, hill holder, ABS, ASR (traction control), and Dynamic Steering Torque system.
With the addition of the 1,4 MultiAir Distinctive TCT, the local Mito line-up now comprises four models: Distinctive, Distinctive TCT, Quadrifoglio Verde and Quadrifoglio Verde, both of which feature a 125 kW version of the 1,4-litre MultiAir engine.
The Alfa Romeo Mito 1,4 MultiAir Distinctive TCT is on sale for R265 000 (inclusive of VAT and CO2 tax). The price includes a 5 year/150 000 km warranty, 6 year/90 000 km service plan and 3 year AA roadside assistance. Service intervals are every 30 000 km.
