Niche sports car manufacturer TVR’s creations are renowned for being fibreglass menaces, but now the British company plans to offer owners the same exhilarating experience on a motorcycle.
It has been rumoured that the specialist manufacturer’s new owner, Russian Nikolai Smolensky, a big motorcycle fan, made the suggestion when he first took over the company last year.
A spokesman for TVR told that producing a motorcycle was a great possibility. “If there is enough interest in one, we will probably do it,” he said.
In keeping with TVR’s reputation for providing hair-raising fun, a high performance bike to rival the Honda Fireblade and Yamaha R1 is the most likely option. It would probably have a power output of about 110 kW, accelerate to 100 km/h in about three seconds, and record a maximum speed approaching 260 km/h.
However, an urban bike combining a large capacity engine with high torque figures could be the answer too as these machines become increasingly popular. And, as with all its sports cars, it is likely that the entire product will be created and assembled at the TVR factory in Blackpool.
