Here is another New York Auto Show unveiling which will eventually head to South Africa.
In true Volkswagen tradition, the updates, especially on the outside, are minor. At the front the Jetta now looks even closer to that of its more expensive sibling, the Volkswagen Passat. The rear of the car has also received slight changes.
The same can be said for the interior where changes include, for instance, a new multi-function steering wheel – similar to that of the Golf 7. The driver will also have access to new equipment, including, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert and frontal collision warning.
The claimed fuel consumption figures have also been improved as Volkswagen has done some tweaks on the car’s aerodynamics and lowered its rolling resistance. This has been achieved by a new front bumper and air intakes, as well as reworked rain gutters and underbody panels around the rear axle.
Some models will also come equipped with bi-xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights and an adaptive front lighting system. Volkswagen has put special emphasis on the 2,0-litre TDI engine that delivers a few more kilowatts, but uses less diesel.
Expect this updated Volkswagen Jetta range to arrive in South Africa during the latter part of the year. The full specification of the range will also be revealed closer to the time.
