Delta has signed a deal with logistics multi-national Union Transport to manage its parts and accessories supply operations.
Delta has signed a three-year contract with logistics multi-national Union Transport (UTi) to manage its parts and accessories supply operations.
The move is directed at streamlining and optimising parts and accessories availability to Delta’s 185 dealerships throughout South Africa.
Johannesburg-based UTi will hold overall responsibility for the management and co-ordination of the company’s multi-million rand parts and accessories distribution, from delivery to the company’s Port Elizabeth warehouse, through to arrival at the end user. They can sub-contract if necessary.
“We recognised that there had been major changes in logistics both in concepts and support technology and nothing less than a total re-engineering was needed,” said Doug Harrison, Delta Motor Corporation’s Director After-Sales Operations.
He said the company’s parts and accessories department expected the new partnership not only to improve its existing operations in terms of efficiency and effectiveness, but also to increase its competitiveness in the national parts and accessories market.
