Volkswagen has lifted the wraps off the 2011 model Year Jetta. With a greater emphasis on quality in a more mature package, the company aims to distance the Jetta from its Golf 6 offerings.
Stylistically, the 2011 Jetta adopts Volkswagen’s new familial face with its horizontal grille detail echoed in both the headlamps and tail-lights, as well as an interior more in line with the quality of the latest Golf and Polo models. The new Jetta is also noticeably larger than the current car, with the overall length growing from 4,55 to 4,64 metres.
A Volkswagen spokesperson pointed out that the new Jetta will be packaged in such a way that there is a clearer distinction between itself and the Golf – a tag that the previous model didn’t manage to skirt quite as effectively.
VWSA has confirmed that the new Jetta will arrive in South Africa during the 3rd quarter of 2011. While the new Jetta will be produced at the company’s Puebla plant in Mexico, VWSA has vowed to bring it to our markets at a competitive price point.
As before, the Jetta will be offered with a choice of Trendline, Comfortline and Highline specification packages. The engine line up for our market has not yet been set in stone, but it has been indicated that it will roughly mirror that of the current Jetta line up – you can possibly expect 1,4 TSI, 1,6- and 2,0 litre petrol models as well as a 2,0-litre turbodiesel.
