Volkswagen SA has introduced a five-year maintenance plan as standard on some of its model ranges and optional on the rest.
Since February 1, the maintenance plan (called the Volkswagen Automotion Plan), has been included in the purchase price of all Volkswagen Golf IV and Jetta IV, Passat, Sharan, Beetle and T4 Caravelle vehicles sold in South Africa.
New Citi Golf, Caddy and Polo owners will also be offered an option to purchase a Volkswagen Automotion Plan. The maintenance plan will consist of a five-year/60 000km term with the option of extending to 160 000km.
“The maintenance plan entails no payment for regular services, and maintenance and repair costs resulting from normal wear and tear will be taken care of,” Volkswagen’s general manager of sales and marketing, Bill Stephens, said.
“Furthermore, the Volkswagen Automotion Plan will add to the value of the vehicle with the complete service history assisting in increasing the resale value of the vehicle.
“We will also be offering the customer the chance of extending the plan from its existing 5-year/60 000km to 160 000km. This is a further benefit for those customers who run fleets or use our products to travel great distances in the course of their work.”
Stephens added that the maintenance plan differed from a service plan as it covered the cost of maintenance and repair costs resulting from normal wear and tear, as well as the servicing of the vehicle.
