Volkswagen SA (VWSA) will move its Sales and Marketing division to Gauteng next year as it takes steps to strengthen the division.
The Volkswagen and Audi Sales and Marketing teams and the Franchise Management Division, currently based in Uitenhage, are moving to Gauteng’s Midrand in the New Year.
The majority of the division’s departments are already based in Gauteng as this is where most of the business is generated and also where more than 50 per cent of its dealers are situated.
Jolyon Nash, VWSA sales and marketing director, said that in terms of volume, Gauteng alone accounted for around 43 per cent of Volkswagen’s dealer volume, and 64 per cent of Audi’s dealer volume. “This compares to 6 per cent and 3 per cent respectively for the Eastern Cape. Our major direct customers, corporate and fleet customers, are located in Gauteng.
Nash said that this would help to ensure that VWSA was in a better position to evaluate and plan for market and dealer trends and conditions. And the impact of the relocation would be kept to a minimum with about 17 out of the 240 staff members being affected.
