The Suzuki SX4 Jock Edition! What do you think of when you see that name? I bet it's not the animated movie, Jock of the Bushveld, which is based on a local tale, is it? Well that is exactly what Suzuki wants you to think. In celebration of the well-known Staffie, Suzuki has come up with a special edition SX4 lifestyle hatchback.
What separates the Jock from the rest of the pack is that it offers a colour-coded roof spoiler and alloy wheels with a smoked grey finish. Inside the Jock you will find soft leather upholstery with suede inserts and all the features that the standard version of the SX4 offers, such as keyless start, electric windows and mirrors, air-conditioning, central locking, and a multi-speaker radio/CD sound system with MP3 compatibility.
The Jock is powered by the same 2,0-litre petrol engine as other SX4 models. The engine delivers 112 kW and 190 N.m of torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.
So why the name? National marketing manager at Suzuki Auto SA, Francois van Eeden, says: “The tenacious yet friendly character of Jock perfectly mirrored the characteristics of our popular Suzuki SX4.”
The public might have a different idea about the name when they first hear it, just as one of our associate editor’s reaction was, “Hey Bru!” when he heard the name.
The Suzuki SX4 2,0 manual Jock Edition has a recommended retail price of R232 600. It comes with a standard six-year/90 000 km service plan, three-year/100 000 km warranty and three-year roadside assistance.
