Women’s Day may already be behind us, but the celebrations continue this coming Saturday, especially for female petrolheads. As part of the ongoing Women’s month activities taking place during August, Killarney raceway will be hosting its very own Women’s Day event at the Cape Town race circuit on August 16.
The day kicks off at 8 am with registration, which will take place on a first-come-first-served basis. Among the activities will be free hot laps for ladies in GTi Challenge series racecars (men will be charged R50). There will also be ladies and men’s motorcycle track sessions at various times through the day.
CAR associate editor Sudhir Matai will be there supporting his chosen outreach project, Live to Race; if you aren’t familiar with the work carried out by this NPO then click here for more info.
On this occasion, Live to Race will be providing high-speed taxi rides for Reach for a Dream participants and women from Cancer.vive. Here is some video footage from the last time Live to Race supported the Killarney Women’s Day event.
There will be lots of other activities including skid pan sessions, outdoor karting, a Day at the Race, ladies only breakfast and a drift demonstration by local sideways squad Team Red Drifters. As with any racetrack event there will be food stalls to cater for all tastes as well as a jumping castle for the little ones.
Ladies get in for free and men over 16 years old pay R30.
