Automotive journalists from across the globe are casting their votes to select the ten finalists for the World Car of the Year 2014 and World Performance Car of the Year 2014 titles. CAR deputy editor Mike Fourie is South Africa’s sole representative on the judging panel and apart from pooling CAR editor’s opinions on the new cars we’ve been exposed to in the past year, we’d like to know, just for interest’s sake, which vehicles you believe should be in the running for the two prestigious titles.
Some of the World Car of the Year finalists that we’ve test driven and evaluated include the Audi A3, BMW 2 Series and 4 Series, BMW i3, Citroen C4 Picasso, Ford EcoSport, Infiniti Q50, Lexus IS, Subaru Forester, Toyota Corolla and RAV4.
Our experience of World Performance Car of the Year contenders extend to the Aston Martin Rapide S and V12 Vantage S, Audi RS 7 Sportback and S3 Sportback, BMW M6 Gran Coupe, Ferrari 458 Speciale, Ford Fiesta ST, Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster, Mercedes-Benz A/CLA45 AMG, C63 AMG Edition 507, E63 AMG S and S63 AMG, Porsche 911 GT3 and last, but not least, the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
